In partnership with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, and curated by Academy Award nominated composer Gary Yershon, the Barbican is delighted to present a new series of screenings and talks with Oscar© -winning European composers. Gabriel Yared’s remarkable artistic relationship with the late Anthony Minghella got off to an Academy Award-winning start with The English Patient, the story of the unfolding relationship between a nurse ( Juliette Binoche ) and her doomed patient – a horribly burned pilot ( Ralph Fiennes ) – in a crumbling villa in WWII Italy. The English Patient won 9 Oscars, including one for composer, Gabriel Yared.
