2pm–5.30pm : March 1st 2019

We are living through a particularly rich period in expressive movement. Whether realised in genres with a long history, such as folk dance and ballet, or in free, as yet unclassified forms, there appears to be more activity than ever.

But what opportunities are there for practitioners, from such an array of approaches, to enter into dialogue with each other? For a Movement Director from theatre to swap notes with a ballet Choreographer? For a pioneer in the life-enhancing power of physical play to chat to the Artistic Director of a contemporary dance company?

Shaping the Stage provides such an opportunity with an exciting line-up of guests from all these backgrounds, and more besides.

The event will be chaired by Gary Yershon (Associate Artist of The Old Vic and RSC).

Panel includes: Temitope Ajose-Cutting  (The American Clock Associate Choreographer); Polly Bennett (Movement Director Bohemian Rhapsody, The Crown, Sweat);  Ivan Blackstock (Choreographer & Artistic Director of CRXSS PLATFXRM)Anders Duckworth (Choreographer, Visual Artist); Penny Greenland MBE (JABADAO Director); David Nixon OBE (Northern Ballet Artistic Director); Ayse Tashkiran (Movement Director, RSC Associate Artist, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama).
