EMMA Theatre Company
on tour in the East Midlands
About the only thing I can remember about this show is a short sequence in which the cast dashed about the playing area, leaping on soapboxes to inform the audience of the number of mechanical looms which were destroyed in Nottinghamshire towns during the Luddite protests. For some reason, Lavinia Bertram declaring, loudly and proudly, “Beeston: eighteen!” lingers in my memory. Funny, the way the brain works.
