This should have been a fun job. Back in the Bristol Old Vic’s studio theatre, the New Vic, where I’d been in Piaf the previous year. A lovely children’s show by one a master of the genre. A good rôle as a neurotic quasi-villain trying, and failing, to be tough. A friendly director, Caroline Raphael (who went on to senior posts in BBC radio). Several actors in the cast I liked and admired, having worked with them multiple times. But there was also someone in the cast whom I didn’t like at all, and so, for the first time since entering the profession, I found real difficult in sharing the stage with someone. A horrible experience.
