7 & 11 March 2019 The Great Blueness
The London Symphony Orchestra commissioned Gary to compose this exploration of music and colour. The Great Blueness is a classic tale from author and illustrator Arnold Lobel about a maverick wizard who decides to paint the grey world in which he lives, and watches the impact that colour has on the emotions of the people around him.
For these premiere performances, the LSO was conducted by Felix Mildenberger. The reciter was Lucy Griffiths.
