Timeline: The Story of Music and Sound in Film

Sound in Cinema: from The Jazz Singer to The Conversation with Walter Murch

Part of Timeline: the story of music and sound in film

Thursday 28 September, 7pm
Free event: ticketed

Royal Academy of Dramatic Art
Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre, Malet Street, WC1E 7JN

Renowned editor and sound designer Walter Murch presents a survey of sound in film in the second of our series of Timeline events, exploring the first known examples of synchronised sound, From The Jazz Singer and Fritz Lang’s M, to King Kong and Apocalypse Now. The event takes the form of a conversation between Walter Murch and composer Gary Yershon, followed by a Q&A.

Timeline is a series of events that focus on the artistry of both music and sound in film, from the early twentieth century to the present day.
