Manchester
M15 4FN

Set in a Glasgow tenement block in the 1970s, against a backdrop of rubbish accumulating during a binmen’s strike, the film follows twelve-year-old James Gillespie as tragedy causes him to withdraw from his family. Ratcatcher is a compelling coming of age drama with the exceptional ability to find beauty in the mundane.

Following this screening we will be joined by three-time Oscar nominee Rachel Portman, one of the UK’s most successful screen composers to discuss her evocative music for Lynne Ramsay’s Ratcatcher. The event will be moderated by Oscar-nominated composer for Mr. Turner, Gary Yershon, and is brought to you in association with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
