Colin Sell and I had met at Chester, where he’d been musical director of Cowardy Custard. He and a friend of his, director David Carson, had set up Direct Current to present Colin’s work as a composer/lyricist. The company debuted with two productions, beginning with this one. It was a kind of parody-collation, gently sending up a number of different shows which were currently doing the theatrical rounds. We played lunchtimes at the Arts Theatre in Great Newport Street, just for a couple of weeks. Colin’s score was full of good jokes and jolly melodies.
